What is the Media Kit All About?

Media Kit is your guide to building a career in today’s dynamic media landscape. In an era where emerging technology is rapidly disrupting the media space, aspiring media professionals, entrepreneurs and innovators need a new tool kit for media that goes beyond creating content.

Media Kit shows you how to move beyond simply producing content to think about how to shape, distribute and monetize media using product thinking, audience development, business model design and much more. Whether you’re aiming for middle or senior management, Media Kit is your roadmap to building the future of media.

Who is Behind The Media Kit?

I’m Ashir Badami, founder of Media Kit and a former software product marketing and communications professional with 15+ years of experience in product marketing, product management, corporate marketing, and user experience design. Today, I lead the Media Management & Leadership graduate specialization at Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism — a one-of-a-kind program equipping the next generation of journalists, media leaders, and media entrepreneurs with the knowledge and skills they need to thrive in a rapidly-evolving industry.

Media Kit was born from my desire to help aspiring media leaders, innovators, and entrepreneurs discover the career paths that exist beyond traditional reporting, writing, and producing. Too many talented professionals overlook high-impact roles in product, audience, strategy, and revenue — the very roles that shape how quality media experiences are created, sustained, and scaled.

I hold a Master’s in Journalism from Medill as well as a Master of Science in Human-Computer Interaction from Bentley University.
